North Country Trail Recap (Warren, PA)

This weekend I returned to Warren, PA to hike the North Country Trail.

Have you ever heard the Bob Dylan song, “Girl From the North Country?”IMG_6624.JPG

The song was stuck in my head the whole time I was on the trail… so I guess you could say Bob Dylan came too.

I had never even heard of this trail before last weekend when I passed it on my way to the Jake’s Rocks hike. It turns out, it is a pretty big deal.

Photographs from Eshelman Loop

Frost said, “The woods are lovely, dark and deep.”

I couldn’t help but think of that poem as I explored Pfeiffer Nature Center.

The park is full of gigantic moss-covered trees — hickory, maple, hemlock, oak

The wet and warm weather we have had recently also prompted the growth of some incredible fungi on the dark forest floor.

Eshelman Loop has been my favorite trail to photograph so far…

Photos from Rimrock Loop

Well, I didn’t take this one… but I  am rarely given the chance to be in front of the camera on a hike 🙂

Hello there! I hope wherever you are, the weather is lovely. It has certainly been gorgeous around here this week. People say that talking about the weather is what you do when you can’t think of anything better to talk about. I disagree. Weather is fascinating! I could honestly talk about it for a while.

Don’t worry, I wont.

I will say — I  am crossing my fingers that this warm weather is here to stay.

Below are a few of the shots  I took on the Rimrock Loop this weekend. Despite the snow in some photos, it was in the upper 50s when we went. If you missed the recap of this hike be sure to check that out!
