Photographs from Eshelman Loop

Frost said, “The woods are lovely, dark and deep.”

I couldn’t help but think of that poem as I explored Pfeiffer Nature Center.

The park is full of gigantic moss-covered trees — hickory, maple, hemlock, oak

The wet and warm weather we have had recently also prompted the growth of some incredible fungi on the dark forest floor.

Eshelman Loop has been my favorite trail to photograph so far…

Tell me:

Are you a fan of Robert Frost? Yes 😉

Do you think fungi is gross or cool? I think it is gorgeous, one of my fav things to photograph!

Favorite type of tree? I love a live oak — reminds me of my Virginia home!

  1. I think the fungi fan looks like a turkey! Your photos definitely help me appreciate the beauty of the fungi.
